Question:

How can I include a Commitment (Subcontract) on my project that is meant to go directly to the owner and should not sync to my accounting system?

Answer:

  1. Create your Commitment as usual.
  2. Check the Owner Direct check box on the Details tab.
  3. Proceed as normal.

Spitfire will show values from the expenses on the KPI and allow payment requests and receipts to be entered against the Commitment, but the Commitment data will not flow to your accounting system.

Note: the Owner Direct checkbox appears by default in the Classic UI but may need to be added in Power UX.

To add the Owner Direct checkbox in Power UX:

If your Commitment does not show the Owner Direct checkbox, your System Admin can add it.

  1. Go to a Commitment and click the gear icon to open the settings window.
  2. Look for the Field that is DocFlag.  You can use the filter on the Field column to find it more easily.
  3. Check that checkbox and change the label (if necessary) to Owner Direct or something similar.
  4. Click the “save site settings” icon to add the checkbox to all Commitments on your site.
  5. Close the settings window.

Additional Comments:

You can establish a default for the owner direct flag based upon the project subtype using the Project Config | OwnerDirectCommitments rule; see KBA-01153.
