Question:

I don’t like the order of the tabs on my document. Am I able to reorder these tabs? If I reorder the tabs, will other users also see the change?

Answer:

First of all, you are not able to reorder the tabs for a Doc type just for yourself, even in Power UX. Only someone with permission to make changes in the UI Configuration tool may change the order of tabs, and those changes apply to all the documents of that Doc type on your site.

To reorder the tabs on a Doc type:

  1. Go to the UI Configuration tool on the System Admin Dashboard.
  2. Select your Doc Type in the filters.
  3. Select the Part called Doc Tabs.
  4. Check the Show Live Configuration checkbox.
  5. For each tab that you want visible on your document:
    1. Select the tab name from the Item filter.
    2. Click the icon to copy the row (unless there is a user-added row for that tab already).
    3. Indicate the sequence number for that tab in the Seq column. For example, if you want the Details tab to remain the first column (recommended), you would filter for Details tab, copy the row so you can make a change, then add 1 in the Seq column.
  6. Note: any tab on the document that is not given a sequence number will appear before the sequenced tabs. To reduce confusion, we recommend you sequence all the tabs if you are making changes to the default order.
  7. Save your changes.
  8. You may need to reload configuration or log out and back in to see the changes on your document.

Example:

Here the Commitment doc tabs were rearranged so that the Items tab appears third.

Editing Sequences in Power UX:

If you start with a document in Power UX, you can skip steps 1 – 4 above.

  1. Open the document but do not click in any field.
  2. Click the gear icon at the footer of the document.
  3. The UI Configuration Tool will appear as a pop up window. If you have already set up sequences for your tabs, you can edit the Seq numbers easily. If you have not yet set up sequences, click the Show Live Configuration and Show Visible Only filters to more easily find the tabs to sequence.
  4. Save your changes. The next time the document refreshes, you will see the new sequence of tabs.
