Did You Know:
One of the special roles available in the Routes tool (found on the Manage Dashboard) is the Doc Source Contact role. This role fills in with whoever is the source contact on the document and as such can be very useful in a Route. However, if you want to use this role on a predefined route, you might also need to set up the DocTypeConfig | AutoReroute rule. Without that rule, a predefined route that includes the Doc Source Contact role will be ignored if the document itself does not start out with a source contact. Often, users fill in the name of the source contact at some point after creating the document. The AutoReroute rule checks for predefined routes every time the document is saved and will notice when there is a source contact. At that point, the predefined route can fill in your Route Details tab.
Who is the Source Contact on a Document?

The source contact is the name on a document’s Source Contact (DocMasterDetail.SourceContact) field. Usually, this field has a different label. For example, on a Commitment or Pay Request, the source contact is likely the Vendor; on a Project Setup or Bid, the source contact is likely the Customer; and on a Daily Field Log, the source contact might be the foreman or other employee. A source contact can be either a company name or an individual.
Adding Doc Source Contact to a Predefined Route:
- Go to the Routes tool on the Manage Dashboard.
- Expand the predefined route that will include the source contact.
- Click the + icon to add a new row then click the “head” icon to toggle from person to roles.

- Use the Rule or Doc type filters to see if this rule is already set up for your Doc type.
