Question:

I notice that my document has an Attributes tab, but it is blank and I can’t seem to add to it. What is required for me to be able to use this tab?

Answer:

The Attributes tab (sometimes called Instructions or Instr/Attribute) can be configured for any Doc type and is also found in the Company Contact Details. However, before anyone can use that tab, some configuration is required.

The Code Sets

Options for the Attributes tab is set up on two levels. The first level, the AttrType code set, defines the types of attribute or instruction that can be selected. The second level defines the specific subtypes for each Attribute Type.  Before entering anything into Spitfire, it is a good idea to plan out the subtypes for each Type because each AttrType option will point to another code set.  For example, one Attribute Type might be Classification. This would require a code set called something like VendorClassif. Another Attribute Type might be Rebate Terms. This would require a code set called something like RebateTerms.

Subtype code sets must be defined before the AttrType code set is configured.

To Create or Define a Subtype Code Set:

  1. Go to the Code Maintenance tool on the Manage Dashboard.
  2. If the code set that you are defining exists, expand it. If it does not yet exist, click the + icon, give the code set a name (for example, VendorClassif) and then save before expanding it.

    –
  3. Select the desired Doc type in the filter.
Note: to set up options for the Company Contact Detail, select the Vendor Doc type.
  4. Click the + icon to add a row.
  5. Enter a code and description for every subtype option that you want for that particular Attribute Type.  For example:

    –
  6. Repeat steps 2 – 5 for each subtype code set that you need to define. Remember to save after each one.

To Define the AttrType code set:

  1. Expand the AttrType code set.
  2. Select the desired Doc Type in the filter.
Note: to set up options for the Company Contact Detail, select the Vendor Doc type.
  3. Click the + icon to add a row.
  4. Enter a Code and a Description and then look up the Next Set (the subtype) for each type of Attribute/Instruction.  For example:

    –
  5. Save your information.

  2. Select a type and a subtype by clicking on the appropriate checkboxes.
