Question:

Once a file has been added to the Spitfire Catalog, can I get a copy to review elsewhere or at a later time?

Answer:

Yes. Keep in mind that once you download a file and save it on your workstation, any changes you make to that file will not be available in Spitfire until you upload the file back to Spitfire.  The following instructions are for the File Catalog and any preset search tabs that contain files.  For information on how to download files from a document’s Attachments tab, see KBA-01904.

To get a copy of a file from the Spitfire Catalog:

  1. Go to the Catalog and look for your file. Use filters if helpful.
  2. Either
    1. Right-click in the white space after the filename and select Download OR

    2. Click on the three-dot menu at the end of the file’s row and select Download.

  3. Your file will be downloaded to your workstation’s Download folder.  Depending on your workstation settings, the file might open automatically. You can now treat it as any other downloaded file.

To upload an updated file to the Catalog:

  1. Go to the same Catalog (and folder if applicable) from where you got the file.
  2. Make sure your file has the exact same name it had when you downloaded it, if you want to replace the existing file.  If you change the name of the file or upload it to a different folder, it will be uploaded as a new file in your Catalog.
  3. Drag and drop your file into the Catalog.
  4. You’ll be able to tell that your file has been uploaded when the Catalogued date changes to Seconds Ago.
