Do any of the date fields on the Item Detail auto update?
Answer:
The first date field is set when the item is added, but can be overridden at any point. The only date field that is auto set is the Reviewed Date field (DocItem_Reviewed). It gets set to today every time the Item Status changes, particularly upon Item status close.
