KBA-01031: Why do I get a “not authorized” message when I try to launch the Spitfire dashboard?

Problem:

After we‘ve set up our Spitfire website and installed all the programs, we try to launch the dashboard.  It appears that the dashboard is about to launch (the Spitfire logo with the ‘activating dashboard‘ message appears) but when the browser reopens, the following message appears:You are not authorized to view this page. 

Solution:

You might not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied.

  1. In Internet Information Server, right-click on your Spitfire Application (the virtual directory you created for Spitfire) and select Properties.
  2. In Properties, click on the Documents tab.
  3. Check that Enable Default Document is selected (checked).
  4. Click Add and enter default.aspx as one of your default document types.
  5. Click OK.
