KBA-01361: Changing Retention Percent on Commitment Lines

Question:

Some of my subcontractors start at 12% retention and we reduce this to 10% then 5% as the project progresses.  How do I allow this in Spitfire?

Answer:

Users need a Role with the the DOC | Can Override Retention capability to edit retention percent. Keep in mind that this capability can be assigned by Doc Type.  Relevant Doc Types include:

  • Commitment: A user with the DOC | Can Override Retention capability for Commitments can change retention percent on any line.  The next Pay Request will use the new percentage.
  • CCO: A user with the DOC | Can Override Retention capability for CCOs can change retention percent on any line by using a CCO.  The next Pay Request will use the new percentage.  This increases the audit trail and documentation behind the change.
  • Pay Request: A user with the DOC | Can Override Retention capability for Pay Requests can change retention percent on any line effective for this Pay Request.

Additional Comments:

If the commitment line was established with ‘no retention‘ the user needs the DOC | Update account encoding capability in order to enable retention. See also KBA-01298 for reviewing retention on a payment request. For more information about Role capabilities, see the White Paper Designing User Roles.
