KBA-01583: Numeric Subtotal ID Causes PAPT Error

Question:

Why did my PAPT stop working when I added subtotals? Why did I get an error ‘Copying SOV data to PF‘ when trying to open my PAPT?

Answer:

If you have a PAPT and have designated some rows to be grouped and subtotaled, you are also required to place a unique subtotal group ID on each set of rows that contribute to the subtotal.  Effectively, the rows are grouped by your subtotal ID and the sum is displayed. Subtotal group IDs (shown in column D below) should be alpha or alphanumeric.  (BB, MOB and SHOP in our example; BB1, MOB15 or 6SHOP would work as well).

Errors will occur if you use a purely numeric ID as the subtotal criteria such as 100, 200, 300, etc.

To correct the error, change the subtotal criteria to alphanumeric.

Additional Comments:

SOV automatically adds an alpha prefix to your supplied criteria if you enter a strictly numeric value.
