KBA-01694: How to Set Up Email Using Gmail

Procedure:

  1. Decide what email address you want to use for your site and set it up with your email provider.
    1. Log into the email account using your web browser.  Configure to
      1. allow remote POP connections
      2. set “When messages are accessed” to delete GMail copy
    2. Optional: create an “application specific password” for use below, recommended if the account requires dual factor authentication.
  2. Go to ICTool and select the SMTP tab to set up outbound email.
  3. In the SMTP Server field, enter smtp.gmail.com.
  4. In the Port field, enter 587.
  5. Check the Use SMTP with TLS… checkbox.
  6. Specify the account id and password
  7. Go to the sfATC tab
  8. Switch to the SEND ROUTE sub-tab
    1. Make sure that “Send Email….” is checked (required for read mail
    2. Make sure the outbound email address is as intended
  9. On the sfATC tab, switch to the READ MAIL sub-tab to set up inbound email (see also KBA-01263).
  10. In the POP Server field, enter pop.gmail.com.
  11. In the Port field, enter 995.
  12. In the SSL field, select Yes.
  13. Specify the account id and password
  14. Go to the Finish tab and click the Publish Configuration button.
