KBA-01335: Are there any issues with Spitfire and Various versions of .NET?

Question:

Are there any issues with Spitfire and .NET 2.0,  .NET 3.0, .NET 3.5, .NET 4.0, or .NET 4.5?

Answer:

There are no issues that prohibit having earlier or later versions of .NET installed. This includes the web server hosting the Spitfire application, as well as client workstations.

The requirements for various versions of sfPMS:

  • Spitfire sfPMS V2019 is a .NET 4.7.2 based application.  Both .NET 3.5 with SP1 and .NET 4.5 are required on the client workstation.
  • Spitfire sfPMS V2017 was a .NET 4.5 based application and was upgraded in Jan 2019 to require .NET 4.7.2 to close a TLS security vulnerability in earlier versions of .NET.  Both .NET 3.5 with SP1 and .NET 4.5 are required on the client workstation.
  • Spitfire sfPMS V4.6 and V2016 were a .NET 4.5 based application and required both .NET 3.5 with SP1 and .NET 4.5 on the client workstation.  The IIS server required .NET 4.5.
  • Spitfire sfPMS V4.5 was a .NET 4 based application and required both .NET 3.5 with SP1 and .NET 4.5 on the client workstation to validate the SHA256 Manifest Signature. The IIS server required .NET 4.5.
  • Spitfire sfPMS V4.3 was a .NET 4 based application and required both .NET 3.5 with SP1 and .NET 4.0 Full on the client workstation.  The IIS server required .NET 4.5.
  • Spitfire sfPMS V3.0, V4.0, V4.1 and V4.2 were.NET 3.5 based applications and required .NET 3.5 with SP1.
  • Spitfire sfPMS V2.0 and V2.1 were .NET 2.0 based applications, so .NET 2.0 was required.
